CRESTVIEW UPDO
Austin, Texas
This full house addition/remodel was comprised of an enlargement and reorganization of rooms, modernized aesthetics, and some much-needed energy upgrades including new roof, windows, HVAC and insulation.
The layout and flow of the house was modified by expanding an old garage addition on one side of the house into a primary suite, leaving the other side and original bedroom area as a kids suite. The dining, living and kitchen remained in the center of the home emphasizing family gathering spaces as the heart of the home.
The new layout enhanced the feel of the original dwelling in a number of ways. The two separated suites did a fantastic job filling the homeowner's need for more peaceful areas in a modest size home. A luxurious bath anchored one end of the primary suite with spa-like vibes. A cleverly combined hallway, laundry, and closet not only connected the primary bedroom to the primary bath, it also maximized space and budget. The primary bedroom anchored the other end of the primary suite, optimizing views of a gorgeous 30" heritage tree in the backyard. As for the family living spaces, an enlarged kitchen with new french doors brought in some much needed natural light, and a new rear deck elevated the connection to the rear yard.
The front of the home was given a face lift including a new large covered porch and street front presence that maintained privacy while preserving the authentic character of the neighborhood.
