BACKYARD OASIS

This large, empty central Austin backyard was transformed into a space full of life and luxury.

 

The design called for a number of exterior spaces to complement the layout and style of the existing home: a covered patio and pool to beat the Texas heat, a firepit and spa for use in the winter months, and an outdoor dining area to use on nice days throughout the year. Supporting spaces included a pool bath and large 2 car garage.

Our solution was multi-faceted. The covered patio and garage were combined into a single structure. To create a cohesive design aesthetic on the property, the new covered patio not only mirrored the location of the home's existing rear patio, but it also mimicked its style. Sandwiched right in the middle of the old and new patios, a gorgeous 41" pecan tree became their connected focal point.

The pool tucked back in the rear of the property where the majority of the sun shines. Low-lying native plants, a green wall, and an herb garden bestowed a subtle, yet luscious pop of greenery to the space, enhancing its warm and inviting ambience.

The pool bath attached directly to the existing house for easy access to the home and outdoor living spaces. An interior finish palette of bold patterns and pops of purple added a refreshing surprise amidst a background of black and white architecture. ​
